Unbreakables Spencer Treat Clark Thought Hed Be Replaced For Glass

It's no secret that superhero movies are everywhere. With a myriad shared universes battling out for box office supremacy, moviegoers have become used to seeing superheroes in tights breaking box office records every few months. But before serialized storytelling and origin stories became commonplace, M. Night Shyamalan put his own twist on the genre with 2000's Unbreakable.

M. Night Shyamalan has once again brought mind-blowing twists to theaters with his new movie Glass, which is a crossover movie featuring the leads of both Unbreakable and 2016's Split. Actor Spencer Treat Clark is reprising his role as Joseph Dunn, Bruce Willis' son from the first movie. Now an adult at 31, it turns out that Clark didn't originally think he'd be included in Glass, saying:

When Night called me, it was such a trip. I was like, convinced this has to be him telling me that my character is coming back but they're hiring Chris Hemsworth. It was pretty exciting.

Given the high profile nature of Glass, it doesn't look like Spencer Treat Clark was convinced he'd get to play Joseph Dunn again. But M. Night Shyamalan brought back a ton of actors, including Clark, Split's Anya-Taylor Joy, and Charlayne Woodard as Elijah's mother Mrs. Price. Furthermore, the supporting trio actually had a meaty part of Glass' narrative, and the film's twist ending.

Spencer Treat Clark's comments to People will be surprising for anyone who has seen Glass, as director M. Night Shyamalan clearly wanted the story to be inherently connected to the previous films. The characters' stories intertwined in unexpected ways, showing how far in advance Shyamalan planned the wild threequel.

Joseph Dunn really got a chance to shine in Glass, and wasn't left merely in the periphery of the narrative. Furthermore, M. Might Shyamalan unearthed new footage of Spencer Treat Clark from Unbreakable, making the year separating the projects all the more palpable.

Spencer Treat Clark was only a kid when he starred in the subversive comic book movie, and played a major role the his father David Dunn's origin story as a hero. Joseph knew about David's powers, and helped his father test them and develop his own code of ethics for vigilante work. In Glass, fans finally got to see these plans come to fruition, as Philadelphia was privy to The Overseer's heroic deeds throughout the years, as well as his original conflict with Mr. Glass.

Ultimately, the supporting characters from both Glass and Split all got to come back, as long as they survived their first movie. The only exception is Robin Wright, who starred as David's ex-wife in Unbreakable. She doesn't appear in the crossover movie, possibly due to her busy schedule and work on House of Cards.

Glass is in theaters now, and doing some damage at the box office. Be sure to check out our 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.

Music is an integral component to filmmaking, so even if a movie isn't received well, there's always the chance its tunes are enjoyable. Some movies get by with just a traditional score, but the Twilight movies were also accompanied by songs that were performed by a variety of artists/bands, with New Moon's soundtrack including numbers like "Meet Me on the Equinox" by Death Cab for
