Check Out What James Gunn's Pacific Rim Cameo Would Have Looked Like

Pacific Rim Uprising replaces most of the franchises original cast with new characters, but it turns out the movie very nearly had one more brand new, but recognizable, face, director James Gunn. The Guardians of the Galaxy writer and director revealed in a congratulatory tweet to Uprising director Steven S. DeKnight that he and his other half, actress Jennifer Holland, actually had a cameo in the movie at one point. The moment didn't make it into the final cut, but Gunn shared a picture of what the pair would have looked like. Check it out.

I can't speak to James Gunn's DJ dancing moves, as the scene apparently didn't make it into the final cut of Pacific RIm Uprising. Based on the characters that James Gunn and Jennifer Holland were apparently playing, their scene likely would have come at the very beginning of the movie. Uprising opens with an opening montage that shows us the world of the film and contains voiceover from John Boyega describing the life his character lives. That life includes no shortage of parties and it was likely as part of that montage that we would have seen DJ Gunn, which, now that I write it, is an absolutely perfect DJ name.

We actually recently learned that the opening prologue sequence was actually added to Pacific Rim Uprising late, after test screenings indicated the movie needed to do more to remind the audience of the events of the first film. As such, it appears the addition of James Gunn was a late decision. The director doesn't explain on Twitter how he came by playing the part but it was likely just a happenstance of being around the shooting location and available to play the part.

Maybe we'll get to see James Gunn as part of some deleted scenes along with the eventual Blu-ray release of Pacific Rim Uprising. I'd certainly love to check out his great DJ dance moves. Gunn is being self-deprecating regarding his dancing, but if you've seen the dancing that Gunn did for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, to act as the reference for Baby Groot's opening credits dance, then you know the guy actually has some decent moves.

Even without an appearance by James Gunn, Pacific Rim Uprising is a fun movie, though it would almost certainly have been even better with him in it. Although, James Gunn certainly does his best work behind the camera. He is a producer on next month's Avengers: Infinity War and he is currently working on the script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Ant-Man And The Wasp Concept Art Has Scott Lang's Daughter Having Some Insect-Sized Fun

At the beginning of Ant-Man And The Wasp, Paul Rudd's Scott Lang goes to some pretty extreme lengths to keep his daughter entertained. Specifically, he builds an obstacle course throughout his house, allowing her to get the Ant-Man Experience. It's a great sequence, but you may be surprised to learn that there were some early ideas about possibly exposing young Cassie Lang (Abby Ryder Fortson) to Pym Particles:

Jackson Sze, the Senior Concept Illustrator at Marvel Studios, has been dropping various pieces of Ant-Man And The Wasp concept art on his personal Twitter account ever since it was released a few weeks ago, and a recent series is all about Scott and Cassie Lang having fun while insect-sized. The image above suggests a trip to the ice cream store, which is made all the more fun with a tiny sled - and we really wish this could have been incorporated into the feature.

But that's not all. Another one of Sze's drawings has Scott Lang giving lessons on how to fly on the back of an ant. What's particularly special about this one is that it gives us a close-up look at Cassie's costume, which you'll notice is outfitted with a clear dome instead of a mask (she doesn't need to hide her identity, and it's probably more comfortable for a kid).

The last bit of Ant-Man And The Wasp concept art features a bit of outside fun, and also a cameo from one of the series' most popular supporting players: Michael Pena's Luis. This looks like it could be really dangerous, as that toy boat is really tiny, and Luis could cause some major waves just by surfacing, but it's definitely a cute image:

Sadly we didn't get to see Cassie Lang do any growing or shrinking in Ant-Man And The Wasp, but there is a possibility it could happen in the future. Not only does she tease her superhero aspirations at the end of the blockbuster, but her counterpart in the comics is a costumed vigilante named Stature, having discovering a natural ability to grow and shrink due to exposure to Pym Particles throughout her life.

While none of the illustrated scenes featured here are actually in the movie, there are still countless of fun moments of similar ilk found in Peyton Reed's Ant-Man And The Wasp's runtime - and you can still catch it in theaters now.
